This policy explains what information Yes or Mess ("we", "us") collects when you use yesormess.com and the Yes or Mess app, how we use it, and the choices you have. Yes or Mess is built by Two17 Marketing & Tech. Questions: info@yesormess.com.
What we collect
- Account details: your first name, last name and email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see them.
- Optional profile details: a contact email and a profile picture, if you add them, and whether your profile is public or private.
- Your game activity: the couples you follow, your picks (your Hot Take), the results you enter (The Tea), your comments, and your scores.
- News preferences: shows you follow, stories you save, and which stories you've seen.
- Shares: when you share a link, we store a short record (for example a headline with your first name and accuracy) and a preview image, so the link shows a proper preview. Anyone with the link can see that preview.
- Usage information: Google Analytics records pages visited, device and browser type, and approximate location, using cookies or similar technology.
How we use it
- To run the game: your account, your picks, scoring and the leaderboard.
- To send game email, such as a welcome message, new show announcements and results.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
- To keep the game fair and secure.
We don't sell your personal information.
Who can see what
- Other signed-in players can see your name and profile picture, your picks and comments on the couples you follow, and your leaderboard stats.
- Setting your profile to private hides your stats page from other players. Your name still appears on the in-game leaderboard.
- Your email address and contact email are visible only to you and the Yes or Mess admin.
- Public pages on yesormess.com may show totals, such as how many players picked Yes for a couple, but never an individual player's picks. We'll update this policy before any player names appear on a public page.
Services we use
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Realtime Database, Storage, Hosting and Cloud Functions) stores your account and game data and runs the site.
- Google Analytics measures how the site is used.
- SendGrid (Twilio) delivers our email, using your name and email address.
- Google Fonts supplies the site's fonts.
- Google AdSense shows ads on some pages of yesormess.com and at the bottom of some screens in the game. See "Ads and cookies" below.
Ads and cookies
- Ads on Yes or Mess are served by Google. Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to show ads based on your earlier visits to this site and to other websites.
- Google's advertising cookies let it and its partners show you ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- You can turn off personalized ads from Google in Google's Ad Settings, and opt out of many other vendors' personalized ads at aboutads.info. You'll still see ads, but they won't be based on your browsing.
- In the EU, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent message asks for your choice first. Until you choose, neither ads nor Google Analytics use cookies to track you. You can change your choice at any time through the same message.
- Ads never use your picks, comments or account details. We don't share them with advertisers.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. To delete your account and the data tied to it, email info@yesormess.com from the address you signed up with, and we'll remove it.
Children
Yes or Mess isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we'll delete the account.
Changes
We'll update this page when our practices change and adjust the date at the top.
